ESPN reports that the Knicks have chosen to exercise Toppin's fourth-year option for the 2023–2024 season.

Toppin, who was selected 8 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, had a shaky first season with the Knicks in 2020–21

In 2021–22, he increased those totals to 9.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game while playing in 72 games with 10 starts.
